Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how cortexlearnupsc, operated by Brahman (Sole Proprietorship) (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, shares and protects your information when you use our website https://upsc.cortexdesk.in, our mobile app and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. When you sign up, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your name, email address and, if you sign in with Google, your basic Google profile and profile photo. You may set a display name and avatar.
- Learning & usage data. Your progress through courses, lessons, practice questions, flashcard reviews, quiz answers, mastery scores, streaks, XP, badges and other activity you generate while using the Service.
- Payment information. When you purchase a paid plan, payments are processed by our payment gateway, Razorpay. Your card, UPI, net-banking or wallet details are collected and processed directly by Razorpay — we do not store your full card or banking credentials on our servers. We retain only a record of the transaction (such as the plan, amount, date and a payment reference ID).
- Technical & device data. IP address, browser and device type, operating system, app version, and — if you opt in to notifications — a push-notification token.
- Communications. Messages you send us by email or through any support channel.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and provide the Service.
- To track and personalise your learning — progress, spaced-repetition scheduling, mastery and recommendations.
- To process payments, subscriptions, refunds and invoices.
- To send you service-related messages and, where you have opted in, notifications and product updates.
- To maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and debug issues.
- To improve the Service and comply with our legal obligations.
3. Legal basis
We process your information to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), with your consent (for example, optional notifications), to comply with legal obligations, and for our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service.
4. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers (sub-processors) who help us run the Service, and only to the extent necessary:
- Clerk — authentication and account management.
- Convex — application database and backend.
- Razorpay — payment processing.
- Vercel — website and application hosting.
- Google Firebase — push-notification delivery (only if you enable notifications).
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users or others. Some of these providers may process data on servers located outside India; we take reasonable steps to ensure your data is handled securely.
5. Cookies & local storage
We use cookies and similar local-storage technologies that are necessary for the Service to function — for example, to keep you signed in, to remember your theme (light/dark) preference, and to support the installable (PWA) experience. We do not use them to sell your data.
6. Data retention
We retain your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account or request deletion, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records (such as transaction records) to comply with legal, tax or accounting obligations.
7. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls through our service providers. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law (including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may request to access, correct, update or delete your personal data, or withdraw consent you have given. To exercise these rights, email us at brahmanprabha@gmail.com.
9. Children
The Service is intended for users preparing for the UPSC examination and is not directed at children under 18. If you are a minor, please use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
10. Grievance Officer
In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made thereunder, the contact details of the Grievance Officer are:

11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
